There’s a woman that I know who ran a little bar In the town where I used to be She’d seen more in life than anyone could tell And more than anyone should see Never pine for a clear day when a rainy one will do Though I know that others disagree It's much more than simply making more with few It's finding joy in a minor key Living in a minor key is to shape reality So your will is yours and truly free Forget bout what you heard Jump on in and flat the third And get on living in a minor key There’s a man lives down the street who speaks obscenities But his heart knows love and life and all And he’ll tell you of his life’s fine philosophies And of every time he came to call Take the first I’ll take the latter If you don’t mind it doesn’t matter A battle cry played out on the marquee With a twinkle of his eye he says as 40 years go by When making love in a minor key What’s the point of living life like the best can never be? Why not go and live your life like everyday’s a jubilee… I hope I find a kid (for truly they must be) Who truly sees the wisdom of my plea To make a choice instead As glory’s absentee Living life in a minor key

I've used up all the boxes I took out all the trash I'll grab the truck in Brampton Still save a little cash I thought I'd have a future Drywall and driving nails Still, life thought otherwise Bad times and falling sales They say it's so much harder To try to save a stash Can't even find your fortune Digging holes up in the patch Pastimes will pass the time Lost moments with the hip Life is a fulsome journey This here's a sorry trip It’s time to leave the line I’ve had enough of losing I’ve seen enough of pain Old plans are worth refusin’ While I try to make amends You won’t catch me again 'Cause it's only pulling nails Stuck on the 401 Goin nowhere with no one else I'm frozen here in time Still hope my heart can melt I've laid off my ambitions I've outsourced my reserve I've mortgaged all my dreams And the future I had earned The past is gone Why should I mind My path moves on I’m doing fine Your absence shades the presence Of everything that came before I knew I paid my penance When you were standing at my door

Home 03:43
What if home is where we cannot go Because we’re already there What if we’re so busy trying to find Something that’s really nowhere What if love is the thing we want to feel But we never can find a soul To give us the things we won’t give ourself And no one can ever know. But I know Every moment on. We get a little closer to home But I know Every moment on. It’s just that we’ll never know What if hope is all we want to find But we’re standing right over the spot It may be a crumb, it may be some one It may be something or not Wanting more out of life Expecting and seeing the same What do you want from your life Expecting that nobody came What if sons and daughters go wandering In deserts devoid of dreams What if lovers starving of loving Go saying less than they mean What if pain is less a default Than a lazy view of the world What if falling out of a lifeboat Is more than anybody could What if home is where we cannot go Because we’re already there What if we’re so busy trying to find Something that’s really nowhere

Where, where have the crowds all gone - Am I the only one, left in the sun? Lost, afraid and alone again - I'll search and I find and then, can't find anyone Hide, pull all the curtains down - Clean all the space around, make everything clear Try, try to act normal now - And find all the whys and hows, to make it in here Take my hand darling, I know the way (We'll) face the fear coming, day by day I know we'll be ok On the other side Find, find me a trusted voice - Cut on through the noise, make everything right Light, help me to light the way - And make it out of the darkness, and into the light Keeping to myself to keep me right When I just want to come and hold you tight But on the other side we'll be allright

Clouds 03:44
Time flows in ribbons It frays as it flows To threads as it falls to the floor And all is forgiven Beyond all we know By the time we walk through the door There once was a dream That I had by a stream Where the stream was calling my name Too much to believe Than to think what we see Can never quite be the same Can you see like me That whatever will be Will be and that’s all there is And clouds are all that I see As children we know All the true can be shown Regardless, our dreams are what’s true So staring at clouds We can still find somehow What is true for me, and for you Remember the times when I needed a friend Over and over and over again So I look at the clouds in a sky full of blue And I mull it all over and hope that it’s true That everyone seems to float through the day As time moves along and goes drifting away When the distance is great, but the love still so strong Don’t be afraid, cause it won’t be so long Can you see like me That whatever will be Will be and that’s all there is And clouds are all that I see Time flows in ribbons It frays as it flows To threads as it falls to the floor And all is forgiven Beyond all we know By the time we walk through the door

about

Chris Steele Boston, Massachusetts

So, I’m a bit of a traveler and a dreamer, an observer of life,

A New Jersey kid who’s lived in New York and North Carolina before coming to Boston,

And who’s spent a lot of time in Canada.

I play rock – music with roots that come from the 60's, 70’s and 80’s. Rock with some folk, but also a little bit of prog thrown in. And I like to tell stories.
